Derek Thiess is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Georgia (U.S.). In addition to Sport and Monstrosity in Science Fiction (Liverpool UP 2019), he is the author of two other monographs, Embodying Gender and Age in Speculative Fiction (Routledge 2016) and Relativism, Alternate History and the Forgetful Reader (Lexington 2015), as well as several articles on various areas of the fantastic. He is currently working on a book on myth and violence across fantastic genres.
